12 Pixar Jokes That Are Totally for Grown-Ups
Here are 12 hilarious Pixar jokes clearly intended for parents and grandparents, not kids.
Mia and Tia (Cars, 2006)

It's straightforward to say: the twin Mazda Miatas who literally flash their headlights at Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) early in Cars are groupies.
When Lightning goes missing, they start hanging around the dreadful Chick Hicks.
So they're not just groupies, but groupies with poor taste.
The Toy Story Casting Couch (Toy Story 2, 1999)

It seems someone at Pixar has a fondness for twins.
A "blooper reel" featured during the credits of Toy Story 2 was modified in the #MeToo era to eliminate a joke where the sleazy prospector Stinky Pete (voiced by Kelsey Grammar) approaches two twin Barbies and grabs one’s hand while saying, “I’m sure I could get you a part in Toy Story 3.”
Barbie, of course, went on to star in one of the highest-grossing films of all time. Stinky Pete, not so much.
No Bears in San Francisco (Inside Out, 2015)

Inside Out, which explores the emotions in a young girl’s mind as her family relocates to the Bay Area, includes a character insisting, “There are no bears in San Francisco.”
Another character chimes in: “I saw a really hairy guy. He looked like a bear.”
Sally’s Lower Back Tattoo (Cars, 2006)

Lightning McQueen discovers his love interest, a Porsche Carrera named Sally, has a wild side when he notices her rear pinstriping — the car equivalent of a lower-back tattoo.
You can contest the idea that lower back tattoos mean anything, but the joke was prevalent at the time of Cars’ release, appearing in another Owen Wilson movie, 2005’s The Wedding Crashers.
Hostile Takeover Bank (Cars, 2006)

Not all Pixar jokes for adults are risqué.
Cars made a clever social commentary by introducing HTB — or Hostile Takeover Bank — as the sponsor of Lightning McQueen's biggest rival, Chick Hicks. He’s known for being a terrible sport who will do anything to take the lead. Or a bank, we assume.
This is our favorite joke from Cars — and we adore Cars.
Buzz Lightyear’s Erect Wings (Toy Story 2, 1999)

Yow. When Buzz Lightyear is so, um, impressed by cowgirl Jessie’s acrobatics that his wings extend to full attention.
This is one of those Pixar jokes so ridiculous and well-crafted that it’s hard to take offense.
Proctology (Cars, 2006)

Cars is both a charming children’s film and a gentle reflection on aging, with all its implications.
While many kids’ movies rely on bathroom humor, Cars features a distinctly different type of joke about bodily functions.
In one of the most somber moments in the franchise, Lightning McQueen barges in on the sheriff (Michael Wallis) during the car equivalent of a proctological exam, courtesy of Doc Hudson (Paul Newman).
12-Step Sharks Meeting (Finding Nemo, 2003)

12-step groups, like AA meetings, are a staple in dramas, from Fight Club to 28 Days.
However, they rarely make appearances in children’s films, with the exception of Finding Nemo, where Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) accidentally stumbles into a meeting where a group of sharks led by Bruce (Barry Humphries) try to overcome their bloodthirsty cravings.
In a dark twist, the sharks relapse during the gathering.
Laser Envy (Toy Story, 1995)

When Woody (Tom Hanks) appears jealous of Buzz Lightyear’s superior firepower, Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles) jokes that Woody has “laser envy.”
