Sydney Sweeney is slated to star in the sequel to The Housemaid, titled The Housemaid’s Secret.

      Following the box office success of Lionsgate's adaptation of The Housemaid after its holiday release, the studio has approved the development of a sequel titled The Housemaid’s Secret, with Sydney Sweeney returning as Millie for another psychological journey.

      Directed by Paul Feig, The Housemaid features Sweeney's character Millie taking a position as a live-in housemaid for Nina Winchester, played by Amanda Seyfried. The job quickly becomes complicated as Millie becomes entangled in the family's dark history and secrets, leading to a dangerous power struggle between her and Nina that escalates daily.

      The Housemaid’s Secret, penned by Freida McFadden, portrays Millie starting a new job filled with hopeful prospects, only to discover that she is in another perilous household where appearances are deceiving.

      The sequel will be scripted by Rebecca Sonnenshine, who worked on The Housemaid, with Feig returning as director. Michele Morrone will also reprise his role as Enzo alongside Sweeney. Filming is set to commence later this year, with producers including Feig, Laura Fischer, and Hidden Pictures’ Todd Leiberman, Carly Elter, and Alex Young.

      While The Housemaid continues to run in theaters and production for The Housemaid’s Secret is set for this year, McFadden has already penned a third installment in Millie’s saga titled The Housemaid Is Watching, which was released last year.

      Under the direction of Paul Feig, the film immerses audiences in a distorted reality where perfection is a façade and nothing is as it appears. In an attempt to escape her past, Millie (Sweeney) takes a job as a live-in housemaid for the affluent Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). However, what starts off as a dream job swiftly devolves into something much more perilous—a tantalizing game of secrets, intrigue, and power. Behind the closed doors of the Winchesters lurks a realm of shocking twists that will keep viewers guessing until the final moments.
