Rest in peace, Chuck Norris (1940 – 2026)
Tragic breaking news has emerged with the announcement of the passing of action legend Chuck Norris at the age of 86. The martial arts champion turned action star was hospitalized in Hawaii on Thursday, and his family later shared the following statement via social media:
“It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden loss of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we wish to keep the details private, please understand that he was surrounded by family and found peace.”
Chuck Norris was born in Ryan, Oklahoma in 1940 and entered the martial arts scene after serving in the United States Air Force. He became a multiple world champion in Karate, establishing a series of martial arts schools and training various celebrity clients in different disciplines. This journey eventually led to his entry into acting, making his debut in the 1968 film The Wrecking Crew, followed by a villainous role alongside his friend Bruce Lee in the 1972 film Way of the Dragon.
After gaining recognition on screen, Norris took acting classes at the encouragement of another friend, Steve McQueen. With leading roles in 1977’s Breaker! Breaker! and 1978’s Good Guys Wear Black, he became one of the most successful and prolific action stars of the 1970s and 1980s, starring in titles like A Force of One, An Eye for an Eye, The Octagon, Silent Rage, Lone Wolf McQuade, Missing in Action, Code of Silence, Invasion U.S.A., The Delta Force, and Firewalker.
In the early 1990s, Norris experienced a resurgence in popularity with the successful TV series Walker, Texas Ranger, which drew inspiration from Lone Wolf McQuade and aired for eight seasons from 1993 to 2001, culminating in a TV movie in 2005. He later made occasional appearances, often portraying versions of himself, leveraging his iconic status and the viral fame derived from “Chuck Norris facts”—exaggerated claims regarding his superhuman capabilities.
Norris returned to the cinema in 2012 with a part in The Expendables 2, and more recently, he starred in the 2024 sci-fi action film Agent Recon and the forthcoming action comedy Zombie Plane, which will be his final project.
