R.I.P. Chuck Norris (1940 – 2026)
Tragic breaking news has emerged with the announcement of the passing of action legend Chuck Norris at the age of 86. The martial arts champion who became an action star had been hospitalized in Hawaii on Thursday, after which his family released the following statement on social media:
“It is with deep sadness that our family shares the unexpected loss of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. Although we would prefer to keep the details private, please know that he was surrounded by family and passed away peacefully.”
Born in Ryan, Oklahoma, in 1940, Chuck Norris ventured into martial arts after serving in the United States Air Force and became a multiple world champion in Karate. He also established a chain of martial arts schools and taught numerous celebrity clients various disciplines. This experience ultimately led to his transition into acting, making his debut in 1968’s The Wrecking Crew and portraying a villain alongside his friend Bruce Lee in 1972’s Way of the Dragon.
After his breakthrough on screen, Norris took acting classes at the suggestion of another friend, Steve McQueen. Following starring roles in 1977’s Breaker! Breaker! and 1978’s Good Guys Wear Black, he became one of the most prominent and successful action stars of the 1970s and 1980s, appearing in films such as A Force of One, An Eye for an Eye, The Octagon, Silent Rage, Lone Wolf McQuade, Missing in Action, Code of Silence, Invasion U.S.A., The Delta Force, and Firewalker.
In the early 1990s, Norris enjoyed a resurgence with the popular television series Walker, Texas Ranger, inspired by Lone Wolf McQuade, which aired for eight seasons from 1993 to 2001 and concluded with a TV movie in 2005. He continued to make occasional appearances, often playing versions of himself, leveraging his iconic status and the viral fame brought about by “Chuck Norris facts”—exaggerated claims about his extraordinary abilities.
Norris returned to the big screen in 2012 with a role in The Expendables 2 and more recently acted in the 2024 sci-fi action film Agent Recon and the upcoming action comedy Zombie Plane, which will be his final project.
