The Dungeon Crawler Carl series is being developed for Peacock by Seth MacFarlane and Chris Yost.
A live-action series based on Matt Dinniman’s popular novel series, Dungeon Crawler Carl, is officially being developed for Peacock. Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, Ted) and Chris Yost (The Mandalorian, Cowboy Bebop) will be involved in the development of the series.
The first book was released in 2020, and there are currently seven books published, with the eighth installment, A Parade of Horribles, scheduled for release on May 12th. Dinniman's narrative follows a Coast Guard veteran and a talking show cat, formerly belonging to his ex-girlfriend, as they navigate survival during an apocalyptic alien invasion broadcasted for the world to see. The series synopsis describes:
An alien invasion has devastated most of humanity, leaving the remaining survivors to fight for their lives on a cruel intergalactic game show. Sounds grim, right? Now imagine facing that challenge while barefoot and accompanied by a conceited, tiara-wearing talking cat. Welcome to Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, where the apocalypse is televised, and Coast Guard veteran Carl finds himself paired with his ex-girlfriend’s award-winning show cat, Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk, as they strive to survive the end of the world, battling monsters, aliens, a crazed A.I., and even other survivors—all for the sake of good television. Survival is not guaranteed. Entertainment is a must.
Yost will write and serve as an executive producer for Dungeon Crawler Carl, while MacFarlane will executive produce through his Fuzzy Door production company. Dinniman will also take on the role of executive producer.
