      Following the recent announcement that the second season of the TV show will be its final one, IDW Publishing is set to debut the first comic series titled Star Trek: Starfleet Academy next week.       Caleb, Genesis, Jay-Den, Kyle, and Tarima are students at the prestigious Starfleet Academy, which trains some of the best professionals in the Federation. They all aspire to become great leaders on their own starships, delve into the cultural complexities of sentient beings throughout the Galaxy, or venture into uncharted territories. For now, however, their task is to perform a survey simulation on a barren, low-oxygen planet. What seems like a straightforward mission becomes complicated when a massive storm disrupts their communication with their instructors aboard the Athena... and then they encounter something unimaginable: an alien. Now, they must collaborate and apply everything they've learned about first contact to survive and escape the planet!
