Vertical has released a trailer for The Wizard of the Kremlin, the forthcoming political satire from writer-director Olivier Assayas (Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper).
Inspired by Giuliano da Empoli’s novel of the same title, the film centers on Vadim Baranov (Paul Dano), a reality TV producer and skilled manipulator, who unexpectedly becomes an advisor to KGB officer Vladimir Putin (Jude Law) as he ascends to power in post-Soviet Russia.
Alongside Jude Law and Paul Dano, the cast includes Alicia Vikander, Tom Sturridge, and Jeffrey Wright. You can view the trailer below…
Amid the turmoil of post-Soviet Russia, KGB officer Vladimir Putin (Jude Law) allies with the master manipulator Vadim Baranov (Paul Dano) to alter life behind the Iron Curtain, employing violence and deceit to reshape the world forever. Their chaotic rule begins with lies and corruption, rapidly escalating to assassinations, tyranny, and ultimately war.
The Wizard of the Kremlin is scheduled for release on May 15th.
