Vertical has released a trailer for The Wizard of the Kremlin, the forthcoming political satire directed and written by Olivier Assayas (Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper).
Adapted from Giuliano da Empoli’s novel of the same name, the film depicts the journey of Vadim Baranov (Paul Dano), a reality TV producer and expert manipulator, who unexpectedly becomes an advisor to KGB officer Vladimir Putin (Jude Law) during his ascent to power in post-Soviet Russia.

Set against the turbulent backdrop of post-Soviet Russia, KGB officer Vladimir Putin (Jude Law) collaborates with master manipulator Vadim Baranov (Paul Dano) to transform life behind the Iron Curtain, employing violence and deception to alter the course of history. The chaotic reign of Putin and Baranov begins with deceit and corruption, escalating rapidly to assassination, tyranny, and ultimately, war.
The Wizard of the Kremlin is scheduled for release on May 15th.
