Osgood Perkins and Nicolas Cage are set to reprise their roles in the upcoming Longlegs film.
Having become the highest-grossing independent film of the past decade, director Osgood Perkins and star Nicolas Cage are set to further develop the Longlegs cinematic universe by returning for another installment of eerie horror.
Instead of a traditional sequel or prequel, The Hollywood Reporter indicates that the new film will be “set in the Longlegs universe.”
Additionally, there is a shift in distribution, with Paramount Pictures acquiring the rights to Longlegs from Neon, who managed the release of the original in 2024, which earned $127 million globally—a remarkable achievement considering it had a production budget of less than $10 million.
Longlegs follows FBI Agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe), who is tasked with an unresolved serial killer investigation in Oregon that takes an unexpected twist, unveiling evidence of the occult. She finds a personal link to the killer (a notable Nicolas Cage) and must prevent him from killing again.
Nicolas Cage has recently completed filming another sequel that many didn't anticipate, Lords of War, a follow-up to his 2005 arms dealer drama, directed by Andrew Niccol. Meanwhile, Perkins has finished production on his horror film, The Young People, starring Nicole Kidman.
