Park Chan-Wook is gathering an impressive cast for his upcoming project, as Matthew McConaughey (True Detective), Austin Butler (Dune: Part II), Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian & Grogu), and Tang Wei (Decision to Leave) join the Western The Brigands Of Rattlecreek.
According to a report from Deadline, Park will direct the film, which features a screenplay penned by S. Craig Zahler, known for Bone Tomahawk and Brawl in Cell Block 99.
The Brigands of Rattlecreek centers around a sheriff and a doctor who seek vengeance against a group of bandits that exploit a severe thunderstorm to rob and intimidate the residents of a small town.
Park has been interested in this Black List project for more than a decade, with the script having been under the ownership of Warner Bros and Amazon at various times. It will now proceed with Patrick Wachsberger’s Legendary label 193 for producer Bradley Fischer and Park, boasting a reported budget of $60 million.
Fresh off his critically lauded dark comedy No Other Choice, which grossed over $40 million globally, Park is also set to serve on the jury for the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival.
