The Beekeeper pair of Jason Statham and David Ayer are collaborating again for the amnesia-themed action movie John Doe.
Jason Statham and David Ayer are teaming up once more, following their work on The Beekeeper and A Working Man, with the announcement of their new project, John Doe. As reported by Deadline, Ayer (known for Suicide Squad and Fury) will direct this action-thriller based on a screenplay by Zak Penn (Ready Player One, The Incredible Hulk).
In John Doe, Statham will portray the Man With No Name, an individual devoid of memory, past, and identity—except for one unforgettable face: Eliza. As he recovers fragments of his identity, he learns he was trained for an ongoing mission and is being pursued by those who sent him. With enemies closing in, John faces a choice between fulfilling his original mission or safeguarding the one thing that makes him feel human: love.
Miramax and Black Bear are producing John Doe, aiming for box-office success similar to that of The Beekeeper ($163 million) and A Working Man ($89 million). Production is scheduled to begin in 2026.
Statham will return to the hive in 2027 with The Beekeeper 2, which will be directed by Timo Tjahjanto (Nobody 2). Share your excitement for the Ayer/Statham partnership by connecting with us on our social channels @FlickeringMyth.
