The Beekeeper pair of Jason Statham and David Ayer are joining forces again for the amnesia action film John Doe.
Jason Statham and David Ayer are joining forces again, creating an impressive director-star partnership with the announcement that they will collaborate once more for John Doe, following their work on The Beekeeper and A Working Man.
As reported by Deadline, Ayer (known for Suicide Squad and Fury) will direct the action-thriller based on a screenplay by Zak Penn (who has worked on Ready Player One and The Incredible Hulk).
In John Doe, Statham will portray the Man With No Name, a character described as having “no memory, no past, and no name — only one face he can't forget: Eliza. As pieces of his identity reemerge, he realizes he was trained for an ongoing mission and is being pursued by the same individuals who dispatched him. With foes closing in, John must decide between completing his original task... or safeguarding the one thing that gives him a sense of humanity: love.”
Miramax and Black Bear will produce John Doe, aiming for box-office success similar to that of The Beekeeper ($163 million) and A Working Man ($89 million). Production is scheduled to commence in 2026.
Statham will return to the franchise in 2027 with The Beekeeper 2, which will be directed by Timo Tjahjanto (Nobody 2).
