Christopher Nolan Envisions Greatness in the Latest Trailer for The Odyssey.

We are now just over two months away from Christopher Nolan's eagerly anticipated adaptation of Homer's Odyssey, which has been promoted substantially in the lead-up to its release, far exceeding the marketing of most films. Nolan recently appeared on one of Stephen Colbert's final shows for an in-depth discussion and to unveil the new trailer, which is now available online.

Here’s a brief synopsis: "Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey, is a mythic action epic filmed around the globe using cutting-edge IMAX® film technology. This film brings Homer’s seminal saga to IMAX® screens for the first time and will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026. The cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong'o, alongside Zendaya and Charlize Theron. The Odyssey is produced by Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan under their company, Syncopy, with Thomas Hayslip serving as executive producer."

“Emma [Thomas] captured it perfectly when we first announced the project: it’s foundational. It encompasses a little bit of everything. I truly believe it contains all stories,” Nolan shared with Empire. “As a filmmaker, you seek out gaps in cinematic culture, areas that haven’t been explored yet. What I discovered is that all the great mythological films I grew up with—Ray Harryhausen movies and others—had never been executed with the kind of weight and authenticity that a big-budget Hollywood IMAX production can achieve.”
