Brendan Fraser heads a mission to Mars in Starman.
Before Brendan Fraser returns to battling the undead, he will venture to Mars in the sci-fi film *Starman*, directed by Josh Wakely, who is making his feature-length debut.
*Starman* centers around Fraser’s character, visionary technologist Tom Adams — a pioneer of the future — who embarks on a groundbreaking mission to Mars, placing himself at the leading edge of humanity's next frontier. However, when unanticipated circumstances leave him millions of miles from Earth, his mission transforms into an urgent race against the clock, motivated by more than just survival; it's also about love.
The screenplay is penned by Wakely, who will produce alongside Rebecca Graham and Eddie Vaisman from Sight Unseen through Grace: A Storytelling Company. David Goyer, known for his work on *Batman Begins* and *Blade*, will serve as an executive producer for the film. The project is set to be pitched to buyers at the Cannes film festival.
Fraser is enjoying a resurgence in his career, first with his Academy Award-nominated performance in *The Whale* and more recently in *Rental Family*. He is slated to appear next in the World War II drama *Pressure* as US General Dwight D. Eisenhower, followed by a reunion with Rachel Weisz and John Hannah for a fourth *Mummy*, scheduled for release in October 2027.
*Starman* will be Wakely’s first feature film after he created and directed Netflix’s animated series *Beat Bugs* and *Motown Magic*.
