Felicity Jones is set to portray Agatha Christie in Eleven Missing Days.
Felicity Jones, known for her role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is set to portray the iconic mystery writer Agatha Christie in Eleven Missing Days, a film inspired by the true account of Christie's sudden disappearance in 1926, an unsolved mystery even today.
Directed by Bertie Ellwood (Silo) and featuring a screenplay by Ernesto Foronda (Better Luck Tomorrow), Jones will share the screen with Vincent Cassel (Westworld). The film draws from the book Agatha Christie and the Eleven Missing Days by Christie expert Jared Cade. The synopsis states:
In December 1926, during the peak of her success, Agatha Christie made headlines when she mysteriously vanished from her home. Reflecting life mirroring art, this whodunnit delves into the investigation of her disappearance, echoing the style of an Agatha Christie novel where all those around her became suspects.
Cassel will play a retired Belgian police detective who becomes involved in the case, reminiscent of Christie's most famous character, detective Hercule Poirot. Also appearing in the film are Nicole Elizabeth Berger (He’s Watching You) and Oliver Trevena (The Gorge).
Numerous theories surround Christie's nearly two-week absence, ranging from suggestions of a fugue state brought on by a depressive episode, to the impact of her divorce and the trauma from a car accident. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the author of Sherlock Holmes, even participated in the search for Christie. Throughout her disappearance, she reportedly visited department stores and hotels using an alias, which only adds to the intrigue surrounding those eleven days.
Production for Eleven Missing Days is scheduled to kick off this summer in the UK.
