Nimrods, inspired by Green Day, has unveiled its first poster and set an August release date.

The film *Nimrods*, inspired by Green Day, has unveiled a poster ahead of its upcoming release in August. The cast includes Mason Thames (How to Train Your Dragon), Klyr Coffman (The Gates), Ryan Foust (The Goldfinch), and Mckenna Grace (Regretting You), all paying tribute to the album from which the movie derives its title.

*Nimrods* is described as “a coming-of-age tale about three friends (Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust) who venture to Los Angeles, mistakenly believing their band will be opening for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. Their road trip is a raucous and playful journey across the country, filled with adventures inspired by Green Day's experiences during their years on the road.”

Lee Kirk (Ordinary World) directs and writes the film, which also stars Sean Gunn, Fred Armisen, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Keen Ruffalo, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Bobby Lee, along with Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool. Producing the film are Armstrong, Dirnt, Cool, Tim Perell of Process, Ryan Kroft, Michael Rapino from Live Nation Studios, and Jonathan Daniel.

“Nimrods is the type of movie that audiences will want to watch together in theaters,” stated Inaugural’s CEO Kevin Weisberg. “It embodies the humor, chaos, and rebellious essence that established Green Day as a cultural phenomenon, while delivering a genuinely fun coming-of-age narrative. We’re excited to collaborate with Legion M and Live Nation Studios to bring this film to fans nationwide on August 14.”

“We adored this film as soon as we saw it at TIFF,” remarked Legion co-founders Jeff Annison and Paul Scanlan. “Green Day owes its existence to the fans, and we’re eager to offer those fans a chance to have a stake in the film as we join forces with the incredibly talented teams at Inaugural, Live Nation, and Green Day to present it to audiences. *Nimrods* is precisely the kind of film we’re made for. It’s bold, original, and meant to be enjoyed collectively. When our community supports something they cherish, it has genuine influence, and we’re eager to harness that here.”

*Nimrods* is set for release on August 14, 2026.
