Sam Raimi is set to direct a remake of the ventriloquist dummy film, Magic.
In what seems like an ideal collaboration between filmmaker and source material, Sam Raimi has been chosen to helm an adaptation of the horror story Magic, centered around a ventriloquist dummy.
As reported by Deadline, the director known for Evil Dead and Send Help will offer a contemporary interpretation of William Goldman's novel.
Goldman’s 1976 psychological horror narrative follows Charles “Corky” Withers, a struggling magician who attains success through a crude ventriloquist dummy named Facts. However, this newfound fame comes at a cost as the dummy appears to develop a life of its own.
The book was previously turned into a cult classic film in 1978, directed by Richard Attenborough, featuring a chilling performance by Anthony Hopkins as the unsettling puppeteer.
Raimi is set to produce Magic alongside Roy Lee, known for Weapons and Resident Evil, collaborating with his Send Help partners Mark Swift and Damian Shannon on the screenplay.
