Indie Shorts Awards Showcase Guarantees Filmmakers a Theatrical Screening - MovieMaker Magazine
After reviewing over 1,200 short films live in key markets like Cannes and New York, the Indie Shorts Awards recognized a common hurdle for filmmakers: obtaining a guaranteed theatrical screening before a live audience.
In response to this issue, the organization launched the Short Film Showcase—a new, prominent segment of the Indie Shorts Awards held in Cannes and New York.
This initiative aims to provide filmmakers with assurance. By paying a participation fee, filmmakers can guarantee themselves a screening slot in a professional cinema, ensuring their film is showcased where it truly counts—on the big screen and in front of an audience.
Indie Shorts currently has a limited number of slots available for its New York edition, which will occur at Cinema Village in Manhattan from October 2 to October 8, 2026. Filmmakers interested in participating can reserve a screening time on FilmFreeway by selecting CONFIRMED SLOT @SHOWCASE 2-8 OCT 2026 under Category & Fees. A discount of 50% is available using the code NYCSHOWCASE50.
The Showcase Package Features:
- Cinema screening (DCP / Dolby Sound) at Cinema Village
- Access to the red carpet, press exposure, and photocall
- Live Q&A session with the audience
- Access to the filmmakers’ lounge and hospitality
- VIP badge granting full festival access
- 15 complimentary tickets for the filmmaker’s team
- Eligibility for the $1,000 Best Showcase Award
This Showcase runs alongside the main festival as a parallel competition, with a distinct award and specially curated programming.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to have your film screened on the big screen in New York City!
