Euphoria officially concludes with the finale of its third season.
Last night, HBO broadcast the finale of the third season of *Euphoria*, but series creator Sam Levinson and HBO have officially announced that it also marks the end of the series featuring Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi.
*Euphoria* debuted in 2019, portraying a group of high school students as they deal with issues such as drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love, and friendship. The show encountered several lengthy production delays between seasons, with the longest gap being four years between seasons two and three.
This pause was partly due to the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes as well as the rapid rise of Zendaya, Sweeney, and Elordi's careers, with Zendaya joining the *Dune* franchise, appearing in *Challengers*, and the newly released *The Drama*. Sweeney starred in *The Housemaid*, *Christy*, and *Anyone But You*, while Elordi took on roles in *Saltburn*, *Frankenstein*, and *Wuthering Heights*. The extended hiatus also necessitated a significant time jump, showing the characters no longer in high school; for instance, Zendaya's Rue was depicted running drugs for crime bosses while Elordi and Sweeney’s Nathan and Cassie found themselves deep in debt to loan sharks, among other challenges faced by the other characters.
**SPOILERS FOLLOW**
The confirmation that season three serves as the conclusion of *Euphoria* isn't particularly shocking, given that in the last episodes, Nate dies from a snake bite after being buried alive by his loan sharks, and Rue overdoses on fentanyl-laced painkillers, resolving issues related to her criminal employer. The finale also featured Cassie and Maddie deciding to go into business together while Rue’s ex, Jules, mourned her loss.
*Euphoria* starred Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Eric Dane, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, and Colman Domingo.
