Mason Thames teams up with Donnie Yen in the John Wick spin-off titled Caine.

The John Wick spin-off, Caine, has recruited Mason Thames, who gained prominence from How To Train Your Dragon, to join the cast of the forthcoming film featuring Donnie Yen.

Caine will center on Yen's character, Caine, who has just retired and freed himself from the High Table after the events of John Wick: Chapter 4. However, as viewers witnessed with John, the threats posed by the High Table remain, particularly with Rina Sawayama's Akira sneaking up on him to seek revenge for her father's death at his hands as the fourth installment concluded.

In Caine, Yen will reprise his role and also make his English-language directorial debut, working from a script by Mattson Tomlin (The Batman) and Robert Askins. Sawayama will return as Akira, while Thames will join Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things) among the new additions to the John Wick universe.

In recent years, Lionsgate has been broadening the John Wick franchise while director Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves work on John Wick: Chapter 5. Besides Caine, an anime prequel and a video game featuring Keanu Reeves for current-gen consoles are also in development.

A release date for Caine has not yet been disclosed, but it is anticipated in 2027.
