I Want Your Sex Teaser: Gregg Araki Makes a Comeback with Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman

      After a 12-year hiatus from feature filmmaking, Gregg Araki made his much-anticipated return to Sundance this year to unveil I Want Your Sex, an erotic comedy featuring Olivia Wilde, Cooper Hoffman, Charli XCX, Daveed Diggs, Mason Gooding, Chase Sui Wonders, Margaret Cho, and Johnny Knoxville. The film has been acquired by Magnolia Pictures for a release on July 31, and the first teaser and poster have been released.

      In his Sundance review, Caleb Hammond noted, “Throughout Park City and beyond, the prevalent question has been: is I Want Your Sex the 'return to form' for Gregg Araki, as the director of programming Kim Yutani described during her introduction to the film last night? Not exactly. This outrageous, sex-filled adventure has its entertaining moments, but Araki’s first feature in over a decade often resembles a lecture from a sexually liberated queer male aimed at a reportedly sexless younger audience. While Araki may have valid points, the film's approach feels too straightforward.”

      Here’s the synopsis: "Elliot (Hoffman), a fresh-faced individual, lands an exciting opportunity working for the famous artist, icon, and provocateur Erika Tracy (Wilde). His fantasies come to life when Erika selects him to be her sexual muse. However, Elliot soon realizes he is in over his head as Erika leads him on a journey far more profound than he ever expected, plunging into a realm of sex, obsession, power, betrayal, and murder.”
