      The first trailer for MGM+’s upcoming crime drama, The Westies, has been unveiled. Starring J.K. Simmons, the series tells the story of an Irish crime family navigating a shifting power dynamic in their Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood amid an FBI investigation.       Set in the early 1980s, The Westies centers around the construction of the Jacob Javitz Convention Center in their territory in Hell’s Kitchen, which promises a financial boom for the Irish-American organized crime group. Even though they are heavily outnumbered 50-to-1 by the Five Families of the Italian mafia, the Westies’ infamous brutality and shrewdness have provided them the leverage to divide the profits through a delicate truce. However, rising tensions between the audacious younger members and the traditional leadership pose a risk of igniting conflict, pulling the Westies further into the FBI’s escalating investigation of the Italian mafia.

      Joining Simmons in the cast are Tom Brittney (Greyhound), Titus Welliver (Bosch), Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark), Allen Leech (Downton Abbey), Sarah Bolger (Mayans M.C.), Hamish Allan-Headley (Daredevil: Born Again), and Stanley Morgan (The Serpent Queen).

      The Westies is set to premiere on MGM+ on July 12th.
