Set in the early 1980s, The Westies depicts the construction of the Jacob Javitz Convention Center on the Westies’ home ground in Hell’s Kitchen, which promises a significant financial gain for the Irish-American organized crime group. Although they are significantly outnumbered 50-to-1 by the Five Families of the Italian mafia, the Westies have leveraged their infamous brutality and cleverness to negotiate a fragile peace for sharing the profits. However, rising tensions between the bold younger members and the traditional leadership risk igniting a conflict that could draw the Westies deeper into the FBI’s expanding investigation of the Italian mafia.
Alongside Simmons, the cast includes Tom Brittney (Greyhound), Titus Welliver (Bosch), Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark), Allen Leech (Downton Abbey), Sarah Bolger (Mayans M.C.), Hamish Allan-Headley (Daredevil: Born Again), and Stanley Morgan (The Serpent Queen).
The Westies is set to premiere on MGM+ on July 12th.
