Anya Taylor-Joy comes aboard The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.

      Anya Taylor-Joy, known for her role in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, is set to enter Middle-earth, as Variety reports the actress has joined the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, directed by Andy Serkis.

      This casting adds another major franchise to Taylor-Joy's resume, following her recent voice performance as Princess Peach in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and her role as Alia Atreides in Dune: Part Three, which will debut in December. In The Hunt for Gollum, she will portray Seren, a Sindar Elf from the Woodland Realm and a skilled and trusted agent of King Thranduil (played by Lee Pace, who is reprising his role from The Hobbit trilogy).

      In addition to directing, Andy Serkis will reprise his titular role in The Hunt for Gollum, joined by Middle-earth veterans including Pace (Thranduil), Ian McKellen (Gandalf), and Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins). New cast members along with Taylor-Joy include Jamie Dornan as Aragorn, Leo Woodall as Halvard, and Kate Winslet as Marigol.

      The Hunt for Gollum is set in the early part of The Fellowship of the Ring and will delve into the events between Bilbo’s 111th birthday celebration and Gandalf confirming that Frodo possesses the One Ring, highlighting the search for Gollum by Gandalf, Aragorn, and Sauron. The film is being produced by Peter Jackson, who directed The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, and is also expanding his Middle-earth universe with the recently announced sequel, The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past, co-written by Stephen Colbert.
