Lara Croft travels to Cobra Island for the crossover event featuring G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero and Tomb Raider.

      Following the announcement of the beloved video game heroine joining Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Classified Series with an upcoming action figure, Lara Croft unexpectedly appeared on the final page of Skybound and Image Comics’ G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #330 this week. It has now been revealed that the crossover will continue with a five-issue limited series titled G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider.

      Set to launch in October, the series will be penned by writer Kyle Higgins and illustrated by artist Elena Casagrande. In this series, Lara seeks the assistance of G.I. Joe as she embarks on a quest for the Arbco Star artifact, traveling from Castle Destro to Cobra Island.

      “Tomb Raider colliding with G.I. Joe,” Higgins remarked. “An elusive artifact, a Destro scheme, and a collaborative infiltration mission on Cobra Island—the appeal of this story should be clear. When Alex Antone reached out to see if I’d like to craft an adventure that includes both, I was quite eager, especially since I’ve never had the chance to work with either brand. We’re creating some enjoyable moments with both franchises, and there are definitely some hidden gems for G.I. Joe fans!”

      Lara Croft has ventured into some of the most perilous places on the planet, but nothing compares to Cobra Island. For this journey, she will need the assistance of her old friend, Shipwreck, along with various G.I. Joe teams to undertake a hazardous mission deep into the island's core to retrieve a treasure concealed there for years—one that Destro and Baroness are determined to seize first.

      G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider #1 is set to be released on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026.
