Hanging by a Wire Trailer: Exciting Rescue Documentary Set to Release This August
Mohammed Ali Naqvi's gripping documentary, Hanging by a Wire, which debuted at Sundance earlier this year, has now been acquired by AB2 Media Group and its theatrical distribution division, Abramorama. With an opening set for August 28, the first trailer and poster have also been released.
The synopsis is as follows: “In August 2023, a routine school journey in northern Pakistan becomes terrifying when two cables snap, leaving eight passengers—six of whom are schoolboys—suspended 900 feet above a ravine as rescuers urgently attempt to save them.”
“Hanging by a Wire embodies the kind of urgent, real-life storytelling that we are passionate about sharing with audiences,” stated Karol Martesko-Fenster, CEO of AB2 Media Group and Abramorama. “The audiences at Sundance were captivated, and we are eager to present this gripping, profoundly human tale to theaters throughout North America this summer.”

John Fink noted in his review, “A fast-paced documentary thriller that could explore the depth of the individuals it covers more richly, Mohammed Ali Naqvi’s Hanging by a Wire certainly delivers thrills and human drama. However, it appears to concentrate more on a death-defying rescue rather than on prevention measures to avert similar incidents in the future.”
