Olmo Trailer: Fernando Eimbcke's film, chosen for TIFF and Berlinale, is set to release this August.
Supported by Moonlight and Minari producers Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner (together with Michel Franco), the coming-of-age story Olmo is set to release next month. This film, directed by Fernando Eimbcke, has been selected for TIFF and Berlinale and features a cast that includes Aivan Uttapa, Gustavo Sánchez Parra, Diego Olmedo, Andrea Suárez Paz, Rosa Armendariz, and Melanie Frometa. Ahead of its August 7 launch from Greenwich Entertainment, the first trailer has been unveiled.
Here’s the synopsis: “In 1979 New Mexico, fourteen-year-old Olmo and his family are facing financial struggles. His father Nestor is bedridden due to an illness, which forces his mother Cecilia, his sister Ana, and even Olmo to take on daily caregiving responsibilities. In the midst of his self-centered teenage years, Olmo would much prefer spending time with his best friend Miguel and trying to impress his attractive neighbor Nina than looking after his father. When Nina invites him to a party on a day he is left alone with his dad, Olmo is determined to escape his responsibilities and sets off on a journey filled with mischief and chaos. However, in his urgent quest to flee his home life, he will come to understand that the source of his greatest pain is also the place where he can find comfort: with his family.”
