Ryan Gosling enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the role of Ghost Rider.

      Not satisfied with being part of a galaxy far, far away, Ryan Gosling, star of Project Hail Mary and Barbie, will be joining the MCU in Ghost Rider, as announced during Marvel's Hall H panel at SDCC.

      Gosling took the stage alongside Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to share the news. He will portray Johnny Blaze, a stuntman and daredevil recognized for his motorcycle skills, who sold his soul to the devil and transforms into the spirit of vengeance known as Ghost Rider. Over the years, various versions of Ghost Rider have appeared as the spirit of vengeance has been transferred from one individual to another.

      Shawn Levy, who directed Deadpool and Wolverine, will helm Ghost Rider, having recently collaborated with Gosling on next year's Star Wars: Starfighter. The film is slated for release in 2028, marking the first confirmed Marvel film on the schedule following Avengers: Secret Wars, which will conclude the Multiverse Saga in December 2027.

      Additionally, two Ghost Rider films featuring Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze were released, the first in 2007 and the sequel in 2011 titled Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Interestingly, Gosling's wife, Eva Mendes, played Johnny's ex-girlfriend Roxanne Simpson in the original film.

      This won't be Ghost Rider's first appearance in the MCU, as the fourth season of the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. featured the Robbie Reyes version of the character, portrayed by Gabriel Luna, known from The Last of Us.
