Godzilla Minus Zero to Premiere at the 64th New York Film Festival Spotlight Gala
The most renowned kaiju in the world is set to land in New York City once more. Film at Lincoln Center has revealed that Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus Zero will premiere globally as the Spotlight Gala selection for the 64th New York Film Festival. This debut is scheduled for September 26 at Alice Tully Hall, more than a month prior to GKIDS' release of the eagerly awaited sequel on November 6 in the U.S.
Here’s the NYFF synopsis: “Following the successful reimagining of the classic Godzilla franchise with Godzilla Minus One in 2023, featuring brilliant, Oscar-winning visual effects and emotionally engaging storytelling, director Takashi Yamazaki has crafted an exceedingly rewarding sequel. Godzilla Minus Zero begins in 1949, two years after the chaotic events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the journey of the Shikishima family as they confront a new disaster. An experience that must be seen on the big screen, boasting even more impressive effects choreography than its predecessor, Godzilla Minus Zero amplifies the fear while maintaining its post-WWII Japan narrative from a human perspective. A GKIDS release.”

The 64th New York Film Festival is set to occur from September 25 to October 12, 2026, with passes currently available for purchase.
