      Following the announcements of the Main Slate and Spotlight lineups, the 64th New York Film Festival is taking magnificent form, now showcasing its highly anticipated Currents lineup. The centerpiece of the Currents selection is the world premiere of Bardi by filmmaker and photographer Tala Hadid. Additional world premieres include Carlos Reygadas’ Heil Jupiter!, Dan Sallitt’s What Can’t Be Mentioned, Éric Baudelaire’s For the Moon, Tiffany Sia’s Overt Listening, and a new restoration of Fred Camper’s Suicide Note.

      The lineup also presents a recent favorite from Locarno, Beatrice Gibson’s At Night, along with Bruno Dumont’s Red Rocks, and Life of Jorge Luis Borges by La Flor director Mariano Llinás. Among the short films are Laura Poitras and Rachel Lauren Mueller’s They’re Here, Johann Lurf’s 70mm piece Forever…Forever, as well as works by Nathan Silver, Ben Russell, Adam Piron, Kevin Jerome Everson, Peggy Ahwesh, Martine Syms, Simon Liu, and many others.

      “The Currents lineup challenges traditional cinematic forms, highlighting the standardization prevalent in the film industry,” states Dennis Lim, Artistic Director of the New York Film Festival. “This year’s selection is particularly exhilarating in its range and variety, featuring many production styles and film language possibilities, presenting visions that span from the intimately personal to the genuinely—sometimes literally—cosmic.”
