The 64th New York Film Festival Introduces New Works by Carlos Reygadas, Dan Sallitt, Mariano Llinás, Laura Poitras, Bruno Dumont, and Others

      Following the announcements of the Main Slate and Spotlight lineups, the 64th New York Film Festival is shaping up beautifully, unveiling its highly anticipated Currents lineup. The highlight is the Currents Centerpiece selection, the world premiere of Bardi, directed by filmmaker and photographer Tala Hadid. Other world premieres include Carlos Reygadas’ Heil Jupiter!, Dan Sallitt’s What Can’t Be Mentioned, Éric Baudelaire’s For the Moon, Tiffany Sia’s Overt Listening, and a newly restored version of Fred Camper’s Suicide Note.

      Additionally, the lineup features the recent Locarno favorite, Beatrice Gibson’s At Night, along with Bruno Dumont’s Red Rocks, and Life of Jorge Luis Borges by La Flor director Mariano Llinás. Among the short films are Laura Poitras and Rachel Lauren Mueller’s They’re Here, Johann Lurf’s 70mm work Forever…Forever, as well as works by Nathan Silver, Ben Russell, Adam Piron, Kevin Jerome Everson, Peggy Ahwesh, Martine Syms, Simon Liu, and many others.

      “The Currents lineup challenges traditional cinematic forms, highlighting the standardization that prevails within the film industry,” remarks Dennis Lim, Artistic Director of the New York Film Festival. “This year’s selection is particularly exciting in its breadth and diversity, representing various modes of production and film language possibilities, with perspectives that span from intimately personal to genuinely—sometimes literally—cosmic.”

      The 64th New York Film Festival will run from September 25 to October 12, 2026, with passes now available for purchase. Individual tickets will go on sale at noon on September 15.
