The Devil's Trailer: Ken Russell's Restored Director's Cut Invades Theaters This October
WB's new Clockwork label is set to make an exciting debut. Before introducing new films by Sean Baker and Mary Bronstein next year, their first official release will carry an NC-17 rating. The restored director's cut of Ken Russell's The Devils is scheduled to hit North American theaters on October 16 for an exclusive one-week run, featuring selected 35mm screenings, followed by a UK release on October 30. As anticipation builds for this cinematic gem, a new trailer has been unveiled.
"The restoration of the material is like using saliva to clean the Sistine Chapel," remarked Guillermo del Toro. "It's remarkable, the film's epic scale. I've seen it on the big screen at Telluride, but I had never truly experienced the film until I watched this restoration."
Here’s the synopsis: “An enduring, unique masterpiece of cinema featuring Academy Award®-winner Vanessa Redgrave and Oliver Reed, KEN RUSSELL’S THE DEVILS is a prophetic epic focused on obsession and corruption, marking a defining piece of art from influential filmmaker Ken Russell.”
