      “When King Numedides fell at my feet and I seized the crown from his bloody head and placed it upon my own, I had fulfilled the ultimate dream. I was ready to claim the crown, not merely to wear it. In the days of old, all I desired was a sharp sword and a clear path to my foes. Now, paths are no longer clear, and my sword has lost its purpose,” – Conan.

      The journey of the nomadic Cimmerian from a wandering adventurer, mercenary, pirate, and warrior to the ruler of Aquilonia was fraught with challenges. Conan prioritized action over the entanglements of bureaucratic society, which he had to navigate while sharing the throne with his wife, Queen Zenobia, and his son, Prince Conn.

      Robert E. Howard’s first Conan tale, “The Phoenix on the Sword,” introduces us to Conan as King of Aquilonia, longing for his free-spirited days of adventure. This narrative also presents Thoth-Amon, the Stygian sorcerer whose sinister influence would haunt the Cimmerian from the shadows. This plot would ultimately lead to divine intervention that would endow Conan’s sword with the mark of the phoenix.

      If “The Phoenix on the Sword” marks the beginning for King Conan, “The Hour of the Dragon” serves as the conclusion of his story, being Howard’s sole Conan novel. This narrative depicts an overthrown Conan and presents Zenobia, a slave who would ascend to become his queen.

In a confrontation with Thoth-Amon, Thulsa Doom's head was separated from his body in both space and time by the Snake of Many Colors, Jandlinatjari, although he is destined to return one day...

      After being banished to the Pits of Arallu for over a millennium, the sorcerer remained imprisoned until the arrival of The Devourer of Souls, who sought forbidden knowledge of the elder gods. Thulsa Doom traded this knowledge for his freedom, inadvertently jeopardizing all of creation at the hands of the Devourer. Always a survivor, Doom implored Conan to stop this diabolical scheme, resulting in their unexpected alliance.

      Following the tale of Wrarrl, The Devourer of Souls, Thulsa Doom and Conan journeyed to Koth together. This ill-fated partnership led to deceit, death, and betrayal, as recounted in “The Seven Lives of Thulsa Doom!”
