Physical versions of Mr. Nutz and Mr. Nutz: Hoppin' Mad are set to be released for SNES and Mega Drive/Genesis.
Strictly Limited Games and Atari have announced that they will be launching physical editions of the classic retro platformers Mr. Nutz and Mr. Nutz: Hoppin’ Mad for the SNES (PAL & NTSC) and the Mega Drive and Genesis in early 2027. Pre-orders for all versions of these classics are currently open.
Strictly Limited, experts in physical publishing, focus on delivering retro classics for gamers and collectors who appreciate an authentic retro experience and prefer physical media, a trend that remains strong following Sony’s announcement regarding the next PlayStation.
Mr. Nutz was initially released during the peak of platforming games and features a red squirrel named Mr. Nutz, who embarks on a journey through various environments to thwart the malevolent Mr. Blizzard from freezing the world in a new ice age. With its fluid controls, hidden secrets, and vibrant settings, the game remains one of the more unforgettable platformers.
Mr. Nutz: Hoppin’ Mad is the action-packed sequel that was originally available only on the Commodore Amiga, with a Mega Drive version initially in the works. In this installment, Mr. Nutz must confront Alien Chickens invading vast levels connected by an exploreable overworld. Once again, the levels feature bright colors, clever designs, and a strong focus on exploration.
Both Mr. Nutz and Mr. Nutz: Hoppin’ Mad are available for pre-order now on the Strictly Limited Games website and are set to release early next year. These releases will allow veteran gamers to revisit a beloved classic while giving younger players the opportunity to enjoy the charm and creativity of these titles.
