Apidya' Special introduces an Amiga classic to a fresh audience of gamers.

ININ Games has released a modern remake of the popular Amiga shoot-’em-up, "Apidya’ Special," now available for purchase on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Originally launched in 1992, "Apidya" captivated gaming magazines and players with its insect-themed fantasy environment, stunning soundtrack, and beautiful graphics. This remake aims to recreate that experience for a new generation of gamers.

"Apidya’ Special" was developed by the original team alongside a super-fan of the game who became a developer, drawing inspiration from an unfinished console port. This allowed the creators to merge original assets with entirely new pixel art, utilize authentic sound effects, and remix the music.

The remake offers two visual modes, enabling players to toggle between HD widescreen and the original 4:3 home computer format. Several visual effects enhance immersion, including CRT shaders, bloom, and realistic scanline simulation.

Players will battle through five uniquely themed worlds—Meadow, Pond, Sewers, Cyber, and Lair—each containing up to five levels, 20 distinctive bosses, and numerous hidden special stages. Additionally, new random in-game events, such as ‘Night Mode’ featuring new enemy sprites, have been introduced.

A brand new co-op mode allows friends to participate together, controlling their own bees with unique weapons. Moreover, with revamped difficulty settings, players should find the game accessible.

Lastly, an exclusive soundtrack by Chris Hülsbeck includes both original and new studio versions of the game’s cherished music, alongside recordings from the original Amiga. "Apidya’ Special" is now available for digital purchase on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
