Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan Encounter an Avalanche in the U.S. Trailer for Cristian Mungiu's Palme d'Or Winning Film, Fjord.

      Always one to take risks, Cristian Mungiu garnered his second Palme d’Or under somewhat controversial conditions. While he is certainly well-regarded in many circles, Fjord also sparked a notable amount of skepticism, if not outright anger — perhaps a film that delves into the legal repercussions of religiously motivated parenting practices, regardless of whether it takes a definitive stance, proves to be more complex than simply creating a film about Miami police. However, this may lead to a more engaging discussion after the screening, and Neon will kick off Fjord's North American release on October 9, accompanied by a new trailer.

      Here’s the official synopsis: “From two-time Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu, a Norwegian woman and her devout Romanian husband move with their five children to a remote, tightly-knit coastal community. Their teenage children quickly bond with a neighboring family, stirring unease regarding their strict beliefs. When allegations of abuse arise, they must confront a judgmental system that blurs the distinctions between genuine concern and bias.”
