Stephen King's Lovecraftian short story "Crouch End" is set to be adapted into a limited series for Prime Video.

      Stephen King's Lovecraftian short story "Crouch End" is set for a limited series adaptation on Prime Video, which has approved a six-episode version of the tale written by Paul Tomalin (Bodies) and directed by Tom Shankland (Berlin Noir).

      “Stephen King is one of the foremost storytellers of our era, and we’re excited to bring his Lovecraftian narrative to life in London with 'Crouch End'," remarked Nicole Clemens, VP of International Originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios. “Paul Tomalin offers a unique, character-focused perspective for the series, and with Tom Shankland leading the project, alongside the top-tier production teams at Mammoth Screen and Fifth Season, this show will captivate audiences around the globe with its intense crime thriller and supernatural elements.”

      Originally printed in the 1980 collection "New Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos" and later included in King's "Nightmares & Dreamscapes," the official description for the series adaptation states:

      London is always awake, and its dreams are restless. When international movie star Doris Freeman rushes into a London police station alleging that bizarre occurrences are linked to her husband’s disappearance, police inspector Ted Vetter must determine if she’s being truthful, if she might be a murderer, or if there’s something even more sinister at work...

      “Having read 'Crouch End' years ago, Stephen King’s vivid writing has haunted my dreams ever since,” Tomalin said. “It’s a privilege to adapt it with the amazing team at Mammoth, Fifth Season, and Amazon along with director Tom Shankland—it’s a dream realized. I can’t wait to bring this gripping story to life.”

      "Crouch End" was previously adapted for television as part of the TNT anthology series "Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King," featuring Claire Forlani and Eion Bailey as Doris and her husband Lonnie.
