Ari Aster y Murray Bartlett entre los homenajeados del Festival Internacional de Cine de Provincetown

      El Festival Internacional de Cine de Provincetown celebrará su 27 aniversario con homenajeados como Ari Aster, Murray Bartlett, Eva Victor y River Gallo, y abrirá con el documental Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror de Linus O'Brien. Se cerrará con Spiritus de Michael Koehler: No Business Like Dough Business.

      El festival, consistentemente uno de nuestros 50 Festivales de Cine que valen la Tarifa de Inscripción, se llevará a cabo del 11 al 15 de junio. Los detalles, incluida la información de venta de entradas, se pueden encontrar aquí.

      Aster será nombrado "Cineasta al límite" de 2025 en anticipación al estreno de su próxima película, Eddington, que A24 estrenará el 18 de julio. El director de Hereditary, Midsommar y Beau Is Afraid recibirá el premio en conversación con el artista residente y leyenda del cine John Waters el sábado 14 de junio.

      "Las películas de Ari Aster entrelazan dolor, belleza y pavor en experiencias cinematográficas inolvidables", dijo Anne Hubbell, directora ejecutiva de PIFF. "Estamos emocionados de dar la bienvenida a Ari a Provincetown para una emocionante conversación sobre su dinámica filmografía.” 

      Murray Bartlett, local de Provincetown y ganador del Emmy, será honrado con el Premio a la Excelencia en la Actuación de este año. La estrella de The White Lotus y The Last of Us de HBO, aparece en Ponyboi, que se presentará en PIFF este año. Recibirá el honor en una conversación con Christine Vachon, nominada al Premio de la Academia y cineasta anterior del PIFF, homenajeada por on the Edge, el sábado 14 de junio. 

      "Murray Bartlett se ha distinguido como un talento notable, aportando profundidad y autenticidad a cada papel", dijo el director de programación de PIFF, Andrew Peterson. "Desde Ponyboi hasta The Last of Us para Dar la bienvenida a Chippendales y su actuación ganadora del Premio Emmy en The White Lotus, Murray demuestra una rara habilidad para conectarse con el público a través de la vulnerabilidad, el humor y la fuerza. Estamos encantados de honrarlo este año.” 

      Eva Victor y River Gallo recibirán los Premios Next Wave de este año. Victor es un escritor, director y actor que se ha establecido con su debut como director de largometraje Sorry Baby, que se presentará este año en el PIFF. Gallo es un cineasta, actor, escritor, modelo y activista por los derechos intersexuales ganador del premio GLAAD que escribió, protagonizó y produjo Ponyboi.

      "Eva Victor y River Gallo representan la esencia misma del arte independiente . Con nuestros premios Next Wave, estamos increíblemente orgullosos de celebrar sus diversos talentos como creadores y poderosos protagonistas en cada una de sus películas originales de debut", dijo la directora artística del PIFF, Lisa Viola. 

      Strange Journey sigue el viaje de The Rocky Horror Picture Show desde sus orígenes como una obra de teatro marginal de Londres hasta su estatus como quizás la película de culto más grande de todos los tiempos. Spiritus es un documental sobre uno de los negocios familiares más antiguos de Provincetown, la excelente Pizza y helado Spiritus. Destaca los desafíos que enfrentaron las empresas y la comunidad queer durante la crisis del SIDA y las actitudes puritanas de las décadas de 1970 y 1980. 

      Las selecciones destacadas de este año incluyen Jimpa, dirigida por la cineasta que regresa Sophie Hyde, F-toys de Annapurna Sriram y el Estreno Mundial de Hurricanna, dirigida por Francesca Gregorini, que narra los últimos días de Anna Nicole Smith.
