Eddie Murphy set to star in the action comedy Blue Falcon.
Eddie Murphy is set to dive back into the world of espionage by joining the cast of Sony Pictures’ action-comedy Blue Falcon.
As reported by Deadline, Murphy, who was last seen in Netflix’s surprisingly well-received sequel Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, will portray a retired super-spy attending the wedding of his estranged son, where he encounters his long-time rival. The screenplay is penned by Chad St. John, known for London is Falling and Peppermint.
The iconic comedic actor previously ventured into the spy genre with the 2002 film I Spy, wherein he appeared alongside Owen Wilson and Famke Janssen. The movie, budgeted at $70 million, underperformed at the box office, managing to earn only $60.3 million globally.
Promoted as an action-comedy featuring two main characters, it’s anticipated that Sony will seek other prominent actors to portray Murphy’s adversary in Blue Falcon.
