Set in 1944 during World War II, the film follows the nuns at an isolated Scottish monastery, St. Augustine’s, as they brace for an approaching storm. One night, a baby in a basket is abandoned on their doorstep, and the sisters decide to care for the child. However, Sister Agnes quickly begins to suspect that the baby is the spawn of the Devil, leading to her confinement by the nuns for her own protection. Is her isolation causing her to lose her sanity, or is there truth to her fears?
