Atari is set to revive the classic 1976 game Breakout for modern PCs and consoles.

Atari and developer Choice Provisions have announced a fresh reimagining of the classic 1976 game Breakout, titled Breakout Beyond, which will be released later this year for PC and consoles. Check out the new trailer below…

Breakout Beyond presents a colorful reinterpretation of the original game, prompting players to shatter every brick and break through walls while building their scores with combos. This neon-filled reimagining shifts to a sideways perspective and offers 72 levels packed with mesmerizing light displays for players to master.

As players dismantle barriers and enhance their combos, they will encounter special blocks that provide significant benefits, including powerful explosions to clear bricks, a defensive barrier to protect the ball, and a laser cannon for block demolition. Each of these enhancements will showcase stunning visuals with impressive effects.

Players don't have to tackle the 72 levels alone, as Breakout Beyond includes local two-player co-op, allowing friends to join forces.

      Key features include:

      - An unlockable Endless Mode with an online leaderboard.

      - 72 challenging levels.

      - Two-player co-op for added enjoyment.

      - Procedural audio and visual effects.

Breakout Beyond is set to launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PS4, and Atari VCS later this year.
