Friendship Trailer: Tim Robinson is Infatuated with Paul Rudd

Tim Robinson has finally landed a leading role. The film Friendship, directed by Andrew DeYoung, premiered at TIFF this past fall to rave reviews and features Robinson as a father who becomes fixated on befriending his neighbor, played by Paul Rudd. A24 has picked it up for a May release and has just released the first trailer.

In his review from TIFF, Christopher Schobert remarked, “The enjoyment of Andrew DeYoung’s Friendship for audience members is directly linked to their appreciation for Tim Robinson’s humor. The star of the meme-generating Netflix show I Think You Should Leave has built a loyal fanbase by crafting moments of embarrassment and characters who fluctuate dramatically between absurd rage and total self-delusion. (Consider the well-known “we’re all trying to find the guy who did this” meme.) To me, I Think You Should Leave is the funniest series of the past decade. Although Robinson’s feature film does not reach the heights of his show, it remains a hilariously dark comedy.”
