Natalie Portman has been confirmed to star in Good Sex, a romantic comedy with an “age-gap” theme, written and directed by Lena Dunham (known for Girls).
According to Deadline, the plot of Good Sex is described as follows: “After a decade in an unsuccessful relationship, successful couples’ therapist Ally (Portman) is about to turn 40 and, against her will, is pushed back into the daunting New York dating world by her best friend. As Ally navigates this scene, she becomes entangled in a passionate affair with a young Brooklyn hipster in his twenties, just as she begins a more traditional relationship with Alan, a successful man in his fifties from Manhattan. As this romantic dilemma develops into a significant identity crisis, Ally struggles to manage her relationships with these two very different men and to understand her own conflicting desires before she risks losing them both.”
Good Sex is being produced by Dunham and Portman through their production companies, MountainA and Good Thing Going, while Film Nation Entertainment is presenting the project to potential distributors at this week’s European Film Market.
Lena Dunham, a Golden Globe winner, is currently in post-production for her Netflix miniseries Too Much and was last seen on screen in last year’s film Treasure. Meanwhile, Natalie Portman has just finished filming on Cathy Yan’s (Birds of Prey) thriller The Gallerist alongside Jenna Ortega and has Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth set for release later this year.
