There is nothing more disheartening than anticipating a great character's best opportunity only to see it fall apart. This is the case with Sam Wilson as Captain America, portrayed by the talented Anthony Mackie. The newest Marvel film, Brave New World, disappoints by not giving the new face of its brand a solid film.
Stop me if this sounds familiar: the latest Marvel movie feels like the season finale of a Disney+ series, culminating in a rushed CGI-heavy conclusion. This has been a recurring theme in Phases Four and Five of the MCU, and the new era isn't making a better start.
At the very least, viewers can appreciate Harrison Ford’s solid performance as the president and some impressive world-building that should satisfy comic book enthusiasts. Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World follows Sam Wilson, who, after a meeting with the newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, gets embroiled in an international crisis. He must uncover the motives behind a sinister global conspiracy before the true villain turns the world against each other.
The film is helmed by director Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore, based on a script by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton. The cast includes Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, along with Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to premiere in theaters on February 14th, 2025.
