The Criterion Collection's lineup for May includes a 4K version of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, along with The Wind Will Carry Us and additional titles.
Marking one of their most significant upgrade months yet, the Criterion Collection is dedicating May 2025 to new 4K releases of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, In the Heat of the Night, and (going back into the archives) Withnail and I, showcasing a range from lavish, imaginative colors to the polished look of 60s studio films to the distinctly rough around the edges.
At the same time, Charles Burnett’s iconic Killer of Sheep receives a substantial upgrade, and Richard Lester’s duo of The Three Musketeers / The Four Musketeers also gets the full treatment. This should not overshadow Abbas Kiarostami’s landmark The Wind Will Carry Us, which is coming to Blu-ray, alongside another collaboration between Bruce Robinson and Richard E. Grant, How to Get Ahead in Advertising.
