Apple TV+ has unveiled a poster and trailer for its upcoming surrealist comedy, Government Cheese, set in the 1960s. The film stars David Oyelowo alongside a cast that includes Simone Missick, Jahi Di’Allo Winston, Evan Ellison, Bokeem Woodbine, Jeremy Bobb, Louis Cancelmi, Julien Heron, Djilali Rez-Kallah, Louis Ferreira, Thomas Beaudoin, Kyle Mac, John Ortiz, and Adam Beach. Government Cheese is a surreal family comedy taking place in 1969 San Fernando Valley, revolving around the Chambers, a quirky family chasing ambitious and seemingly unattainable dreams, blissfully disconnected from reality. As Hampton Chambers (Oyelowo) is released from prison, his long-anticipated family reunion does not unfold as he had hoped. During his time away, his wife Astoria (Missick) and sons Einstein (Ellison) and Harrison (Di’Allo Winston) have created an unconventional family dynamic, and Hampton's return disrupts their lives. Government Cheese will premiere on Apple TV+ on April 16th.
