
Léa Seydoux, Elle Fanning, and Luca Marinelli Star in the Latest Trailer for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
While it's true that this is, in fact, Not A Movie, Hideo Kojima has possibly come the closest to closing the gap between video games and cinema, through years of significant contributions or with the recent support of A24. He has successfully gathered a lineup of on-screen talent that would impress any producer: as shown in trailers since 2022, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach brings back Léa Seydoux, Norman Reedus, Nicolas Winding Refn, and Guillermo del Toro from the first game while also introducing George Miller, Fatih Akin, Elle Fanning, Luca Marinelli, and Shioli Kutsuna. Along with the announcement of a June 26 release date, the project features a new trailer, which Kojima edited himself.
As is typical for him, Kojima hasn’t disclosed much—no surprise from someone who designs games around characters seen with minimal marketing—but the unmistakable visual style, quirky humor, dramatic emotion, and apocalyptic hints set it apart from anyone else's work.
