Linda Cardellini has been confirmed to play Pamela Voorhees in the prequel series Crystal Lake for Friday the 13th.
Linda Cardellini is officially cast as Pamela Voorhees in the prequel series Crystal Lake, a role that connects her to one of film's most famous slashers. According to a report by Variety, the Bloodlines and Scooby Doo actress will lead the A24 produced Peacock series, which will explore events leading up to Pamela Voorhees's vengeful spree in the 1980 slasher classic Friday the 13th. Her death in the original movie set the stage for her son Jason, who wears a hockey mask, to become the villain in eleven subsequent sequels and reboots.
Crystal Lake is being described as an “expanded prequel” and is being supervised by Brad Caleb Lane, the showrunner of Welcome to Derry, who took over the project from Hannibal’s Bryan Fuller. The series has faced numerous creative challenges since it was first announced in 2022.
Friday the 13th, released in 1980, earned $60 million at the global box office and launched a franchise that has yet to replicate the original's horror, culminating in the poorly received 2009 reboot.
