
Take a first look at Jason Momoa in the Apple TV+ series Chief of War.
Apple TV+ has released a first look image of Chief of War, the forthcoming historical drama series created, written, and starring Jason Momoa (Aquaman, A Minecraft Movie).
Chief of War marks Momoa's return to Apple TV+ after his previous role in the sci-fi drama series See, which ran for three seasons from 2019 to 2022. The nine-episode series is inspired by real events, depicting the unification and colonization of Hawai’i during the late 18th century, with Momoa playing Ka’iana, a warrior aiming to unite the islands prior to Western colonization.
Joining Jason Momoa in the cast of Chief of War are Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, newcomer Kaina Makua, Moses Goods, Siua Ikale’o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka, and Te Kohe Tuhaka.
Chief of War is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, August 1, 2025, with its first two episodes, followed by new episodes released every Friday until September 19th.
