Kathryn Newton will lead the cast of Just One Day for Amazon.

      Kathryn Newton, who stars in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Lisa Frankenstein, is set to lead Amazon Studios’ series Just One Day, an adaptation of Gayle Forman's YA romance novels.

      Originally published in 2013, Just One Day centers on a whirlwind romance between two young adults at the end of one’s European vacation. The book’s synopsis explains:

      Allyson Healey’s life is meticulously organized, much like her suitcase. However, on the final day of her three-week post-graduation European tour, she encounters Willem. A free-spirited and wandering actor, Willem is everything Allyson isn’t, and when he invites her to forsake her plans and travel to Paris with him, she agrees. This spontaneous choice leads to a day filled with adventure and romance, offering her liberation and intimacy—24 hours that change her life. After unforeseen events separate them following their brief encounter, Allyson and Willem go on their separate paths. The story tracks Allyson over the next year as she attempts to navigate college life while constantly thinking of Willem and that special day. Thus begins her journey of self-discovery and the quest for love.

      Just One Day was succeeded by the sequel Just One Year, which presented Willem's perspective, and the novella Just One Night, which wrapped up Allyson and Willem’s narrative.

      The series is being developed by Sherri Cooper and Jennifer Levin, who will also be writing it. Newton will serve as a producer alongside Forman, Anne Mastro, and Patrick Moran and Lynley Bird from PKM Productions.

      Next, Newton is set to work on Ready or Not 2, which is scheduled to start filming this spring, with Samara Weaving and the directing team Radio Silence returning for the sequel.
